Ground Crew

“I'm Madeline. Founder, Operator, and right now, the majority of the ground crew at The Maid Line.

I was the kid who alphabetized her bookshelf for fun and colour-coded her closet before I even knew that was a "thing" people did. I couldn't have explained it back then, but I liked watching a space go from heavy and chaotic to something that felt lighter.

University is where my cleaning and organizing obsession got a lot more intense. Between school stress and just being a broke student, my space was the one thing I could actually control. So, the more overwhelmed everything else felt, the more I needed my own corner of it to feel like it could breathe. By the time I was living with roommates, I was the one colour-coding the shared fridge and reorganizing the linen closet without anyone asking. They started joking that I should just do this for a living. I laughed it off at first, but it planted something.

I studied entrepreneurship because amid all the uncertainties of young adulthood, the one thing I knew for certain was that I wanted to be my own boss. Over the past four years I have been building and curating the skills and experiences towards becoming the woman and business owner I want to be.

I also noticed something that most people don't say out loud: everyone knows social media is staged. The perfect kitchen photo, the pantry with matching bins, and the hotel-style, drum-tight bed sheets. Everyone wants that for their own reality, but do not quite have the tools or time to execute. I had built this whole Pinterest board over the years of what I wanted my own space to actually feel like, and at some point I realized I had figured out how to make it real. Not staged for one photo and back to chaos five minutes later, genuinely like that, every day, in a way you could live in. Most people save the picture and never close that gap.

Whether it’s helping to transform my friend’s condo before listing to sell, or helping to unpack and organize my cousin’s first apartment, or completing a basement organization and deep clean for a family friend, these are just some examples of what The Maid Line can do.

- With care, Madeline
